What are you doing this weekend anyway?

You're invited to the City of Painesville's 5th annual Chili Cook-Off and Winter Carnival this Saturday from 1pm-4pm on the square. The chili competition will be in the lower level of Victoria Place. If you wish to enter a chili, you may do so for $10. There are both amateur and professional divisions. There will be trophies and Chili's Fire Pit gifts for winners. Call the city at 440-392-5912 to register your chili.

If you just want to sample the chilies entered, feel free to stop by. Samples are free, but to help decide the winner we're asking for a $1 donation to get your voting tickets to vote for the best.

There will also be carnival activities for families including cross country sking, frisbee golf, a kid's craft, snow art, and an ice-carving demonstration.

Proposed Downtown Painesville Plan

The City of Painesville along with City Architecture hosted several community meetings to discuss the direction of Downtown Painesville. A draft of the plans as a result of comments from the meetings are located through these links. The draft will be presented to the Planning Commission and City Council in early 2009 for action.

Go to the Painesville site,www.painesville.com, and on the right side there is a map for the proposed downtown plan drawing, click the drawing and check out what is on the lsate for the area. Very exciting!

Get involved!

Here is some good info. I got from Doug Nagy, Ex. Director of the Downtown Painesville Org. I would be there myself except I find that I am needed at work, darn. Show up and see what you can do.

This month's design committee meeting will be focused on the idea of community gardens in the downtown area. We'll have some guests to share their experiences.

The meeting time is CHANGED to 8:30am on Friday, January 9th in the Lake County Port Authority Conference Room in Victoria Place. We can validate your parking if you park in the attached parking garage at 66 South St. Clair.

See you Friday morning!
