Happy New Year, welcome "2010"

Well 2009 sure was a doozy and Painesville saw quite a bit during the past 365. I only hope that this message reaches you well and all have a good and prosperous 2010. Enjoy your life for what you are given, it is too short and will pass you by if you don't grab on tight. Love the one's around you and treat yourself well. Don't spendd all of your short timee on this earth hating and being the person no one wants to be around, except for the other miserable people in this world. I pray that they may someday see the light and realize that they spent there good days here on earth with too much negativity, just my two cents for what it is worth. Happy New Year!!!

Second run at Jalepeno Loco

I went to JL again and was even more impressed this time. I got the Burrito Loco. Big and impressive and well priced. The taste was great and the Pico DiGalo was awesome. I would recomend that if you go ask for the homemade hot salsa for the chips annd use it sparingly. I love the hot food and this has a great chili flavor, you can taste the smoked peppers. Staff was friendly and everything was very good this time. I sat in the dining room this time to move from the flat screens and that a more intimate dinner for us.

The New Jalepeno Loco

I ate At Jalepeno Loco on Saturday night and found it to be very similar to the Mentor location. I was happy with the food, I got Burrito's Mexicana. Very good taste and the athmosphre was good. It is a classy joint for those that have been down there, it looks much as it did before with a few Mexican touches. Service was good. I ate in the bar area and the only item that I would suggest to the management to change was the TV selection. I have kids and understand that they need to be entertained. They had a flat screen TV playing "iCarly", from the Disney channel. It was a bit loud and dominated conversation.

Other than that, the food was great and the staff was good as well, very attentive. I will be back as long as they are still here. I do worry that the place is too big for this type of food fare in this location. I feel that they would do better with a smaller place not costing so much to run. Hopefully the word gets out there and they do well. Good Luck JL, JT

Downtown Painesville Recreation Area

This sounds very interesting to say the least. I looked at the proposal and think that creating this new type of district is a good thing. It surely seems to be a forward thinking plan that has taken into effect many things. Check out the website for a downloadable pdf version of the plan and leave some feedback as to what you think about it.

Happy Thanksgiving

I would just like to offer a sincere Happy Thanksgiving to all. I had a friend step up today and prove to me that there is good in the world. I needed some help and this person offered their help. Without the help, I am sure that this Thanksgiving would not be as nice as it will be. To my good friend, Thank you and God bless your family.

Retirement announced

Chief Gary L. Smith announced that he will retire on March 12, 2010 from the Painesville Police Department. He has been a good Chief and a better friend over the years to many. He will be sorrily missed by this City and I only wish him well in his and his families future. Good luck Sir, you have earned the right to relax a bit. JT

Veterans Day

Take a moment to call and thank a Veteran that you know. If you do not know one specifically then seek one out and say thank you. You could make a care package for the troops and stop by a recruiting office and ask how to send it, they will help. Go to an American Legion or VFW post and they will also help. Take a minute out of your day to thank those that allowed you be live where you live and in the manner that you wish. Thanks.

Thanks to the Armed Forces of The United States of America, you are doing us proud. I keep a civil tounge so all I will say, "Westboro baptist "church" , I hope your god is truly proud of you, because I am sure that we do not have the same god. Mine is gracious and loving and would not allow this to happen."

911

Today is the eight anniversary of the attacks on our country. I do not try and press folks into remembering things but if you have a chance today thanks those that serve you everyday. I personally would like to thank the members of the US Armed forces and the men and women of your local Police and Fire departments.

As always I try to find positive things out of the bad, this will be no different. Even though we lost an enormous amount of people that day and afterward, we learned that we are all united and can work together for a common goal. We all could use that is our daily lives and I hope that you don't take that lightly.

Take a few minutes and look around annd be happy that you are alive today, regardless of your situation, life is a gift.

Back in the saddle again...

Well, I am going to try and stick around for a while. I have had some great and not so great times over the past few months. Got married, bought a house, moved, had surgery, but all seems to be well now and am enjoying the new home and life. Bought a home in Painesville City and stayed true to my word. I like this town and am trying to improve things here any way that I can. I was a renter, now I own. One step at a time.

I would like to applaud the City for this summer. There have been so many events and activities that I was never bored. Nice events, with quality people. I am looking forward to "The Taste of Painesville" coming up on the 3rd, hope to see you there!

Apologies all around

Sorry to all of you that might take your time to come here and check things out. I have been very busy and to be honest no time for computer stuff. My life is changing dramatically in the coming months and I will be buying a home, yes in Painesville, as well as other personal affairs. But rest assured soon enough I will be back in the saddle and posting as usual. Sorry and I hope that you are enjoying the soon to be summer things going on around town, I have been and am very impressed. JT

Downtown Community Garage sale anyone?

With Artful Hands closing I have learned that the community garage sale will not be going on.  I would like to appeal to Doug Nagy to try and work this out and make it happen.  I have sent him emails and am willing to assist if needed.  I know that last year it was a big hit and brought untold numbers into the downtown area.  I would like to see a big sidewalk day where all f the stores open their doors and maybe offer some smal deals to the crowds.   Verizon Wireless might like the traffic...lets make this happen and let me know what you think.

Friday sit down this week for lunch, Sidewalk Cafe...check it out!

Where's your favorite deal?

Post to others where you get good deals around town. Thanks to "maddog", we found that Painesville Furniture has comparable prices to the other big stores without all of the extras. Maybe you know of another such gem or service that might be of interest to another reader.

New store coming soon.

I noticed that there is a Verizon Wireless store going into the old Art Essence Gallery on Main St. It is next to Grande Designs and there are only some signs in the windows right now. Looks to be a good venture and maybe bring some people to the area to see the other gems in the area. Good luck Verizon Wireless!

Ready for SPRING to really start!

Well when the weatherman said SNOW, I almost feel off the chair. I had taken my daughter to the Easter egg hunt in the square last Saturday, what a nice time by the way, by how cold. I am ready to see the grass and flowers again. I want to walk outside in shirt sleeves and enjoy a warn breath. I am really looking forward to the Farmers Market starting back up so I can get veggies and bee pollen again. What about springtime in Painesville has you excited?

Thanks to the anonymous poster that started my fire again, I owe you one. JT

Dieting 101

I have lost 125 pounds in the last two years, not the same pounds over and over either doubters.  I have changed my life for the better and I am willing to help you if needed.  I don't claim to be an expert, just did well with a diet and workout plan.  I will say, that I really hate the word "diet", it has the word "die" in it, as most diet's do, die out.  If you have questions add them in and I wil do my best to give you suggestions.   I cook and buy my own food and can also suggest ideas of things to eat to make your food plans more exciting.

Editorial, first time. Not much to do with P'Ville

I have not done this before and feel that sometimes it needs to be done. I am a parent and have been for years. I have been through much and seen good and bad times. My life has been twisted and organized. I would like to ask that school kids not be allowed to take home the class pet. This weekend I was lucky enough to get my turn. Alvin the hamster came to visit and was treated like a king. My daughter loves this furry creature of God and when he died...yes died this weekend, she was crushed. I know that death is part of life, but, she feels like she will be hated by every kid in school. I feel so bad and understand that she will re-bound, but at what cost? I will let you know what happens later, Monday will be tough enough.
