Veteran's Park, Downtown Painesville

11 am to 5 pm

The City of Painesville will soon be bustling with excitement as the Cleveland Museum of Art comes to the heart of Lake County bringing the spectacular art demonstrations from Parade the Circle.

Parade the Circle has been known for drawing thousands of art lovers to see the creativity and style that goes into designing this spectacular display of bright costumes, giant puppets, stiltdancers, handmade masks and other colorful characters for over 20 years.

This year's Art in the Park is the 10th year anniversary, and to celebrate this year, the talented photographer Alan Brown will have dynamic photography of the Lake County Court House as it was being constructed in the early 1900's; men hanging on steel beams as they are lifted up to construct the final structure leading to the copper dome. This year's event will also feature fine art paintings, jewelry, pottery, wood sculpture, steel sculpture, glass, fabrics and other unique items that will fascinate you.

Over 50 artists will be on hand with their artwork, and many will be providing demonstrations throughout the event so you can view firsthand how these amazing pieces of art are formed and created. For other entertainment, there will be musical performances by the Shaun Easton Band, Denny Carleton, Larry Smith, Judith Elias & The Fine Arts Association Flute Choir, Alfredo Guerrieri, and Kevin Giordano & Friends. Students will also be performing at the event showcasing cultural Indian dance from the performers of Bailar, Bailar, Bailar, and the

Tri-City Twirlers, who will feature a song from the popular show Glee "Don't Stop Believing," as well as an impressive Fire Baton Twirling demonstration by Jessica Bullis, a Riverside Majorette.

A kid's art contest and sidewalk art contest will be held from 12 pm to 2 pm where students can paint and each child will walk away with a token as well as be entered into the final art contest where prizes are distributed to kids aging from 1 to 16. Kids can also decorate their very own Eat 'N Park cookie as well as listening to storytelling from Master Story Tellers, the theme being The Caribbean. The stories will be read from the Parrot Rescue, with the story selection being 'The House in the Sky,' 'My Island and I: The Nature of the Caribbean,' and 'Mama God, Papa God: A Caribbean Tale.'

The fun-filled event is packed with amazing art, great food from places ranging from The Harry Buffalo to Java Express Coffee Company, live entertainment, and unique opportunities to learn new artistic talents. Come out with your family and friends, bring a blanket or lawn chair and plan to spend the day in Veteran's Park, Downtown Painesville. JT - Did you make it to this? It was fantastic! Vendors were talking about what an excellent job was done to organize and execute the day.

KJenkins, unfortunately I did not. We had a family picnic set for that day, but I am glad that it was a nice affair. I was able to see that Veterans Park was nicely decorated and hats off to Cathy Bitterman and the rest of the staff that made it a success. JT
