Community Picnic and Lake County Bike Day!

The City of Painesville presents the City's Annual Community Picnic on Saturday, September 10, 2011. The event will take place in the City's beautiful premiere Kiwanis Recreation Park in Painesville from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. All residents, churches, scouts and community groups are invited to come out and enjoy the day with their neighbors and friends at the City's largest park located at the intersection of Latimore and Mill Streets.

This year's Community Picnic features canoe rides on the pond, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, disc golf, and traditional picnic games such as the water balloon toss, corn hole, sack races, limbo and much more. Take a relaxing walk along the Riverview walking path and take advantage of the playgrounds, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, and basketball court. A local DJ will provide music. Pack a lunch, have a picnic and enjoy all we have to offer!

The P- Games Skate Park Competition will be taking place at the skate park for those ages 12 and up beginning at noon.

The City is also participating in Bike Day Lake County on September 10, 2011 at Recreation Park from 1-3:30 p.m. The goals of Lake County Bike Day are to educate participants about biking as a means of "active transportation", raffle for one free adult and children's bike, provide information on bike safety, designated bike routes and trails, and promote biking as fun and family-oriented. There will be a bike safety information booth, free bike helmets to the first 50 kids, giveaways and prizes, a bike swap, water and a DJ.

Sorry to say this was cancelled today. On a bright note, I like this site. Informative and also very refreshing as opposed to the other. I hope good things come of your site and hope more positive people will come forward.

At about 4pm today there was a fire at city hall. From the ground it appears to be in or under the dome. Talk of city hall closing for Monday but that has yet to be determined. Thanks to our fire departments and hoping everyone stayed safe.

I too was upset that the event was cancelled, my daughter was looking forward to it. Thank you for the nice comments on the site, I am trying to keep up, with the busy schedule and all.

As far as the fire goes, I see that The City Hall is open. All personnel are safe and in the wake of 9-11, thank goodness. The clean up continues but everyone seems to be in good spirits.
