What impact has 9/11 had on Painesville?

I am curious what you think about how the attacks against this country directly effected Painesville, Ohio? You could also post a personal story here if it relates to the attacks if you were somehow directly effected also. Please be respectful and remember...

I attended the Fire Dept. program last night. Besides being a memorial service they also used it to hand out awards to citizens and Firefighters.

Two young men honored for assisting our firemen rescue an elderly lady who had fallen 80ft down a cliff along the river. The firefighters repelled down the cliff and needed more manpower to get the woman to safety. They would have had to wait and waste precious moments when the two young kayakers stopped and help get her to safety. Her son was there to thank them for "saving my mothers life".

Two young men honored for actions during an apartment complex fire. One when into the apartment on fire to help the woman resident get out, the other ran up and down the smoky halls banging on doors to get everyone else out of the building.

Two LEC coaches and two of Painesville firefighters honored for using cpr and defibrillation to revive and save a young LEC soccer player who had collapsed. She was there to thank them for saving her life. How can you ever thank a person enough for that?

Another Painesville firefighter honored for an off duty action. He and his wife driving down a street in another city when they saw a house on fire. While his wife called 911 he rushed into the house without his gear to make sure everyone got out safely.

I was very proud to know these guys are Painesville City Firefighters. I made sure before I left to shake their hands and say Thank You, for everything you do for us.

Anyone who did not make it yesterday should stop by the fire dept. and thank these guys just for being who they are.

After hearing about the character these guys have I know when the day comes that I need them, they will be there, without question.
