Sorry but nothing really new. Just darn good food. I am going to call it seafood Friday at Flavors. That hot bar is to die for. Good staples and oh my gosh...muscles! They start to lay it all out at just around 11:00 am but get there around 11:20 am and you will get the fresh fried fish, nice and crunchy. Favorite item this week was the clam chowder. Don't care if it came from a bag or a can, it tasted like it was fresh. Nice "ZING" to it this week to coin a friends phrase. I really had a good meal and topped it off with a cup of chocolate pudding, and I never do that. Hope you get there and if so tell them JT sent you. You won't get a break on the food, just sounds like something you should say after a food review. JT

JT. In your travels to different restaurants around town see if anyone is interested in recreating the Manners Big Boy. Not the 1985 version but the 1965 one. down to the toohpick in the center of it.

Well TERM now we are going to get into the age factor. I will claim ignorance as to the quality of the 1965 version as I was born two years later and when I would have had one I would not have totally appreciated it. I do remember as a youngster going with my grandparents to the Manners on Detroit Rd. in Lakewood, Ohio, and yes, eating a Big Boy. My guess that would have been the late 70's and the Big Boy would have been similar to the 65' version. Good idea, maybe I will bend some ears on that. Thanks. JT

Term,
Manners was the best place, I still have a tray (don't ask)
Did you ever jump out of a friends car on the eastside, run in the service door through the hallway, and out the Westside door, jump in to your friends car as they drive by (without getting cought,or knocking anyone down)
I think about it every time we drive by Gibbs Electric.

That and the french fried Mushrooms.

jt, thanks for the tip on friday at flavors on the square, the mussels alone are worth it.

I don't think anyone can do the Big Boy, I think its all in the original sauce. As time went on it started to taste like a Big Mac which couldnt hold up to the orginal. Anybody remember the Big King at Kenny Kings?

You may be right about the special sauces. They always seem to come close but never hit the mark. Maybe there is an old Big Boy employee out there that would be willing to let it slip...Oooops! If so send me a secret email through my profile and I will let it go for you. JT

Maddog, glad to see that you enjoyed the food at Flavors. A good friend of mine turned me onto the muscles there and you are right, they make it all worth it. JT
